Who We Are: Trainer Bios

Canine College Trainer Drew

Drew Marsden, Behavior & Training Supervisor

Drew noticed his love of animals as a toddler while watching his parents train their own dogs in Florida. Educated in Florida and Northern California, Drew has worked in the animal field in several capacities. His experience includes managing a cageless dog-daycare and boarding facility, private and competitive obedience training, and veterinary technician. He is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. His dream is that one day we will have a better understanding of the animals around us; including his own Shiba-Inu, Kyubi, and newly adopted Australian Shepherd, Ehko. Forever homes are the goal, but the people and education are the key.

Canine College Trainer Shelly

Shelly Valdovinos, Dog Trainer & Behavior Technician

Shelly grew up with a love for animals. After reading an article on shelter animals, she decided that working in a shelter was the career for her. She began attending Animal Behavior College and volunteering at the Pasadena Humane Society. After receiving her certification and volunteering countless hours at the shelter, she was hired as the Dog Trainer and Behavior Technician. She lives with her clicker trained animals, a 19 lb Mainecoon cat named Smokey and her goofy Boxer, Stryker.

Canine College Trainer Tricia

Tricia Casper, Dog Trainer & Behavior Technician

Tricia began her animal career as a zookeeper in St. Louis where she trained a large variety of animals, including bears, big cats, sea lions, arctic foxes, river otters and birds. After leaving the zoo, Tricia went on to manage her first cageless dog kennel. A seasoned pro in behavior observation and communication, Tricia moved to California to further her training and animal career. Tricia says, "There is nothing more rewarding than watching an owner light up when they finally understand why their dog is reacting the way they do, and watching a dog learn to listen to their owner." Her husband Jeremy and two dogs, Mattie and Sammy, would definitely agree.
